Jeanene began Calvary Christian Academy in 2004 in conjunction with her daughter, Melanie, at the urging of their pastor at the time, Rex Furman, who later served as an international missions director. She serves as co-director, preK teacher, music leader, bookkeeper, business manager, chief gardener and janitor, and anything else that needs to be done.

Graduated from Whitman College in 1963,

taught English at Northshore SD Kenmore JH 30 years, lifetime teacher certification in WA for early childhood through college levels.

Taught at CRISTA Ministries Early Childhood Center.

Served as

Christian Ed director, church pianist/organist, children's ministry planner, AWANA commander 15 yrs.,

Melanie Lorey, Co-Director & Teacher:
Melanie, Jeanene's daughter, studied Marine Science at Hawaii Loa College at Kaneohe, Hawaii. She then went on to earn her A.A. in Early Childhood Education & Business and School Administration from Shoreline Community College in 1996. After receiving her certifications, she a pursued additional training in Special Needs Education. Served in internships at Shoreline Community College Preschool, special education camps, and Native American reservation schools. Taught twelve years at CRISTA Ministries King's Preschool and Childcare Center in  as assistant teacher, supervisor, lead pre-K teacher, special program director, and all-school celebration (included music, movement, puppetry & storytelling).

Melanie has an adult child. In 2004, Melanie co-directed Calvary Christian Academy.  She has been active in her church using her gifts of teaching, music, and drama in the VBS programs, Children's Church classes, AWANA, and worship team.  She co-directs the Academy, oversees curriculum and shares in all the business and maintenance.

Jeanene and Melanie bring a combined 66+ years of classroom teaching experience at preschool through college instruction. Students served at CCA have ranged from preschool to 4th grade; some students have special needs such as Asperger's/autism, ADHD, reading/math disabilities to highly gifted. Individualized instruction is guaranteed to meet the needs of each child.
